NEM-alloys
cobalt-alloy
It occurs in conjunction with chromium and molybdenum and it is also used for secondary parts of telescopic crowns (high corrosion resistance). However, it should be noted that nickel free alloy cannot be guaranteed. Nonetheless, the alloy should at least contain 25 m% of Cr and 4% of Mo- veneering is possible. Cobalt-chromium alloys are now considered to be a standard in model casting.
nickel-alloy
Chromium is an alloy which is made out of NiCr. Because of the relatively high rate of sensitization of the people to nickel, this alloy is now no longer used. A supplement with beryllium is prohibited under German law. Former use: fixed prosthesis (dental crowns & bridges), Nickel-titanium alloys are found in orthodontic wires and dental root-canal tools.
spar-alloy
Spar-alloys, also known as copper alloys, usually have tin or zinc as the main additive. Because of a high corrosion possibility within a patient's mouth, spar-alloys are now only used for show modeling. Ferro-alloys are typically found in wires of brackets of removable dental temporaries.
Gildings / Titanium-alloys
Due to its very high corrosion resistance and improved mechanical properties, the aluminum-alloy (aluminum and vanadium) is known to be a better material for implant auxiliary parts than titanium. However, this alloy contains the controversial and hotly debated vanadium.
